About this Lecture
Back by popular demand, this engaging class invites participants into the creative world of stage design, led by Ann Beyersdorfer, an award-winning scenic designer based in New York City and the scenic designer for Gulfshore’s upcoming production of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.
In this one-hour session, Ann will share insights from her remarkable career designing for theatre, opera, live events, and television. Her work has been seen at Lincoln Center, The Muny, and Irish Repertory Theatre, as well as on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, where she currently serves as Art Director for the Film Unit.
On Broadway, Ann has contributed as an associate designer to acclaimed productions including Company, Tammy Faye, How to Dance in Ohio, Ink, The Children, and August Wilson’s Jitney — winner of the 2017 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play.
Participants will explore the principles, techniques, and artistic processes behind creating dynamic, immersive stage environments — and discover how scenic design enhances storytelling, sets the mood, and evokes emotion in theatrical productions.
